A contemporary duplex in the urban environment of the Chora of Tinos
In an environment which is clearly distinct from the Cycladic aura of the island, the residence in Chora, Tinos stands out in the overall urban structure. Imposing yet fundamental, it is caught up in tight and dense borders.
Just like a sculpture is a solid material whose plasticity has created an identity, so too the residence, with the authentic architectural gestures, as if they have been sculptured by a craver, is converted in a sculptural way, into an architecture project of double quality: a bunker and a springboard of solidity and envelope.
The fortressed nature of the residence embraces protectively the bright interior thus turning the house into a retreat from noise, an off-sight little world with unexpected yet targeted sightings, which culminates at the superior level revealing a unique observatory of the town with a panoramic view of the entire island.
